The process usually takes between 6-8 weeks but some transactions can be quicker and, dependent on whether a chain is involved, some may also take longer.
There are five main stages of Conveyancing:-
- Pre-Contractual Stage
- Exchange of Contracts
- Exchange and Completion
- Completion
- After Completion
The main points for any seller or buyer is the point of Exchange. This makes the transaction legally binding. Completion is the day that monies transfer and the keys are exchanged.
Following completion, the work is still not finished and we will attend to pay your Stamp Duty Land Tax and also your Registration at the Land Registry. Once we received the completion of Registration, which could be 4 weeks after completion, a copy will be sent to both you and your Mortgage Lender and any other documents which we have relating to the property will also be forwarded to you.
