Farnham was getting in to the festive spirit last weekend with the switch-on of the Christmas lights in the town.
The event, which took place at Gostrey Meadow, saw thousands of people visiting the area to take part in the celebrations. There was plenty to see and do on the day such as Santa's Grotto, a live nativity scene, Christmas carols sung by local school children and numerous festive food and beverage stalls.
BakerLaw LLP, a Gold sponsor of Christmas in Farnham 2013, was also exhibiting with our "pin the hat and beard on the judge" game proving particularly popular throughout the day. We also partnered with Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in order to help raise vital funds for their services. In total over £280.00 was raised through donations and the sale of Christmas cards and gifts.
Jill Hargreaves, town councillor with lead responsibility for events, told the Farnham Herald: "It was fantastic to see Gostrey Meadow so alive and vibrant with festive activities; there was a real party atmosphere" Ms Hargreaves also said: "I feel really pleased that so many people enjoyed Farnham's Christmas lights switch-on this year. I am grateful to our gold sponsors The Wheatsheaf and BakerLaw".
The lights are now providing illuminations in Gostrey Meadow and throughout the town centre which will no doubt help local residents and visitors get into the swing of Christmas.
